I watched these antelope in the fog. I wanted to show, in my sculpture, the curiosity and indecision of these prairie animals. They had wind of something but couldn’t see what it was.
Of all the prairie animals, antelope have the thinnest hides when tanned. The Indians valued them for women’s clothing. Their meat is probably the most tender of all wild game. History books tell us that Indian women, not having Gerber’s baby food, would chew dried antelope meat and give it to their babies. The infants never had colic and grew up strong.
