An old friend, of my father’s time, told me how he and friends burned down the barn at his country school. Their thinking was that if the horses had no place to be, schools would be closed. Didn’t work. They just had snow-covered horses to ride home at the end of the day! Back when I was a kid I lived in town and walked to school. I know it would have been a lot more fun if I had lived in the country and had been able to ride to school with my brothers.
