At fifty-five, Lanny McDonald was a retired hockey player from the Calgary Flames. A hockey legend, born in the Handhills of Alberta, Lanny McDonald led the Calgary Flames to their 1989 Stanley Cup victory. Lanny played right wing and wore the number 9. Following his retirement after the cup victory, the Flames retired his number. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1992. Lanny is not only recognized as one of the greatest hockey players ever, but he is appreciated by Calgarians for his never-ending support of charity and community events.

“Lanny was a very thoughtful model. He did whatever I asked. We did not have a lot in common because I’m not much of a hockey player and he is not much of a calf roper.“
